Stayed here on 4/15/16. Despite being on the second floor, our room was fine. It was clean and there was a small refrigerator. The restaurant was okay. Service was great. Food was mediocre at best. We had fried shrimp and fried oysters. Salad bar was okay if you dug through it enough. French fries were the disappointing frozen type you find at any fast food place. Tarter sauce came in a little prepackaged plastic cup that you peeled the lid off of. The fresh hot rolls were excellent!

Quant little restaurant with a lot of history. Established in 1929 in tiny Rawlings Virginia. My husband said this is the restaurant his family would gather for family get togethers. I'm grateful it's still here for us to bring our daughter and get some quality time over good authentic country cooking. Hopefully we'll be back soon.

Sweet place. Everything one needs. A gas pump, a small counter for quick foods like hot dogs and sandwiches and snacks, and a sit down restaurant for comfort foods. I had a huge club sandwich and fries and Mom and cousin had roast beef sandwiches. Felt very 'down home'.

Our waitress is delightful. The home cooked food is so yummy. The Rolls are so fresh and delicious. The homemade fried chicken made me think about moving here and i wasn’t even thinking about moving. My hubby who is an amazing cook said mmmm and yummy the whole meal through. This is really good, home cooked food.

So I'm gonna be generous and give 3 stars. The wait staff is sweet and attentive. The food however all taste like it has been frozen (or got freezer burned before cooking). I had the roast beef dinner and was served 5 paper thin slices of beef that were on the tough side. My side of peas you could tell had freezer burn prior to cooking. My husband ordered the fish dinner and he said you could taste where it had been previously frozen. If it all would have actually been homemade we would have enjoyed it. But for $36.00 it really wasn't worth it! I hate to see these cute, old restaurants go under but I would definitely change their cooking standards if they want to bring in a bigger crowd or the truckers next door.
